Welcome to Resilient Roots Counseling

"Mental health is not a destination, but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going."

Noam Shpancer, PhD

At Resilient Roots Counseling, we work to provide support to adults struggling through trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges, and more. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing space for healing and growth.

Services provided are traditional talk therapy with an eclectic approach, and Brainspotting, a treatment modality for processing trauma more efficiently.

about me

tijana jirecek, lcpc, ncc

Hello! I am Tijana, a licensed therapist working with adults who are facing challenges in their lives and feel that they may need additional guidance. I earned a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University, and have been seeing clients since 2015.

I feel that everyone has the ability to change their life for the better when the conditions and time align. My goal is creating an authentic and judgment free space to be able to explore your personal objectives and work together towards change.

In our work together, we can begin to explore and learn more about you - knowing the reasons behind our thoughts and actions is a crucial step. Understanding what created some patterns can help you begin to heal, let go of the patterns which no longer serve you, and thrive. Together, we can begin the work towards shaping your future self to be more in line with who you feel that you were truly meant to be.

you’re new to therapy. what might you be wondering

  • Therapy is very versatile, and you can start really any time you’d like for most any reason. People tend to start therapy when a big enough event happens in their lives that pushes them to begin the journey. Some common reasons may be: feelings of anxiety, depression, loneliness, helplessness, difficulties with different areas of life (social, relationships, family, work, school, etc), or difficulties with substance use. When something feels distressing to a person, therapy can help!

  • Finding a therapist who is the right fit for you can be challenging, but can reap great rewards. You’ll know if a therapist feels like a great fit when you are looking forward to (dare I say, even excited) to go to therapy, when you feel that you are getting something productive out of sessions, and when you are able to express yourself freely and feel safe and comfortable being vulnerable in the therapy space.
Finding your right fit may take a few tries, and may feel discouraging if it does, however making sure that you can be authentic and comfortable with your clinician is a huge part of making the most out of your therapeutic experience.

  • Therapy can help in a lot of ways, depending on what your goals are. It can help improve communication skills and work around setting boundaries, navigate life transitions such as a new job, new relationship, or starting school; improve self-esteem and self-worth, help with learning coping strategies for areas of distress like anxiety or depression, or process through challenging times and trauma.
